## Executive Summary

VoxVector is an AI-assisted vocal and audio deception detection system being developed to analyze interview and conversational audio for evidence that may support, contradict, or fail to establish a hypothesis of potential deception.

The product is intentionally broader than a conventional voice-feature analyzer. It is designed to assess recording eligibility and reliability, collect structured acoustic and conversational evidence, preserve provenance, identify convergence and conflict between observations, and ultimately support validated task-specific deception classification.

The current product is a functional observational research foundation. It is not yet scientifically validated to make reliable deception determinations and does not currently produce a validated deception probability or deception verdict.

That maturity statement does not change the product objective: **VoxVector is being built for deception detection.**

## Product Architecture

The system deliberately separates four stages:

1. **Eligibility and reliability** — determine whether the evidence is technically suitable.
2. **Evidence collection and analysis** — measure supported vocal, acoustic, temporal, linguistic, interaction, and contextual observations.
3. **Candidate classification** — synthesize evidence into provisional hypotheses while exposing uncertainty and conflict.
4. **Final classification or disposition** — permit inferential output only when the configured scientific and reliability gates are satisfied.

The current candidate state is indeterminate and final disposition remains fail-closed to abstention or insufficient evidence.

## Core Problem Solved

Audio analysis systems can produce large numbers of measurements without clearly communicating whether the input is usable, what was actually measured, how evidence converges, or whether a resulting inference is scientifically supported.

VoxVector addresses this through:

- explicit eligibility and reliability controls
- broad structured vocal/audio observation
- method identifiers and provenance
- evidence convergence and conflict reporting
- within-speaker baseline support when independently supplied
- explicit missing-data behavior
- reproducible run fingerprints
- alternative-explanation tracking

## Current Analytical Scope

The primary pipeline currently integrates:

- RMS and intensity
- zero-crossing rate
- spectral centroid and spread
- fundamental frequency and harmonicity
- F0 and intensity dynamics
- harmonic-to-noise ratio
- spectral flux and rolloff
- formant candidate tracking
- pause topology
- optional response latency
- optional transcript disfluency observations
- optional within-speaker baseline deviations

Additional implemented modules include MFCC/cepstral processing, local jitter and shimmer utilities, pulse-period utilities, and interaction/timing utilities that are not all primary-pipeline outputs.

## Future Deception Detection Capability

The roadmap is intended to mature the observational foundation into a validated multimethod deception detection engine. Future capabilities may include validated candidate classifiers, calibrated deception probability, confidence and uncertainty matrices, richer linguistic and conversational analysis, speaker-aware baselines, multimodal fusion, synthetic-media detection, and auditable final disposition.

These are product and research objectives. They become production capabilities only after implementation and scientific validation.

## Reliability and Evidence Philosophy

Reliability is an eligibility control, not a deception score. No individual acoustic, linguistic, temporal, prosodic, emotional, or behavioral signal is treated as proof of deception.

Potential non-deception explanations must remain visible, including anxiety, fatigue, illness, topic sensitivity, language and accent, microphone effects, environmental noise, cognitive load, speaker adaptation, and ordinary conversational variation.

## Documentation Authority

The `VoxVector/` repository is the technical source of truth. This Crown Labs dossier is the executive and product mirror. Material runtime or architecture changes must be reflected here without promoting research candidates to validated capabilities.
